Kathy Spindler
Bio
Kathy Spindler has been working on molecular genetics and pathogenesis of viruses since 1976. Most recently she has been a Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, MI, where she has worked primarily on mouse adenovirus. She became a Professor Emerita in July 2024. She has been a cohost of the podcast, "This Week in Virology," since 2012, where she enjoys learning about and sharing all kinds of virology. Dr. Spindler has participated in facilitating undergraduate research for students at institutions without such opportunities, and she has also worked on programs to increase diversity in science faculty at universities. She has been active in the American Society for Virology, serving as the Secretary-Treasurer of ASV from 2017-2024.
